Considering a 1995 Safari 35S

Hello,

I'm not totally sure this is the right forum, but trying just in case. I'm considering going to look at a 1995 Safari 35S which is for sale. It is a DP, and the dealer told me it's a Cummings engine and they don't know the size at this time.

Here is the Ad: http://moseslake.craigslist.org/rvd/5714627033.html

I'm interested to know if there are things to be wary of with this engine/drive train. I have owned a gas class A before, and own a Ford Diesel pickup. But am not familiar with the larger engines like this one probably has.

Any other pointers would be appreciated too.

Thank You,
Matt

We`ve owned two Safari`s -- A 94, & a 96 -- Both 37 ft -- The 94 had a 250 Cummins, & the 96 had a 300 Cat --

The pro`s first --
They were not made by Monaco, but by SMC,in Harrisburg, OR -- They also mfg the Magnum chassis -- The outer "skin" is aluminum, not fiberglass, so no paint checking -- Just the front & rear caps are fiberglass -- They used the best of paint, & holds up very well -- The interior woodwork`s fit & finish is some of the best --

The con`s
No air ride, no air brakes -- The brakes are hydraulic -- But was not a problem -- Rough riding --Magnum chassis used what they called "Velvet Ride' but was anything but that -- No Pac Brake --

I liked the Safari`s -- Looks like a nice coach, & the 96 we had , had the same paint job as that one -
Good luck on your purchase -- Bill Willard
