Crack in roof cap

I have a crack in the roof cap just above the driver side window, and one on the other side of the MH in the same spot. How do i fix this and prevent further cracking

First thing is to check to see if the frame or a support is broken. The only reason for the roof to crack is if something is allowing it to flex.

no visible cracks or twists to the frame. What i think has happened is a couple really bad spots to set up the motorhome and with only one jack in the front. i may have caused the crack myself by lifting the motorhome up to high in the front . i also noticed that the front window seal is almost popped on one one side as well. So im sure i caused both by leaving out in some really bad spots over the last couple years.

Do you follow the proper leveling procedure, putting the front jack down about ~1" before raising the back end. This allows a pivot point for the front of the coach. I probably have the same chassis as yours, no cracks but I know that the front does flex and the windshield does move.

Could the crack be in the location where the cap is mated to the rest of the coach??? Excessive flexing may cause this seam to fatigue and crack.

To repair correctly you should search for fiberglass repair, I would guess you will have to grind out the fiberglass on both sides and then used fiberglass mate and resin to fix.

Do you have a marina nearby ?? I bet they repair fiberglass cracks all the time, and would do yours too...

I can see that the crack ends with a sharp point. To keep it going any farther, drill a small hole at the very end.

That crack is where the front cap is connected to the rest of the roof. I had the same on all 4 corners on mine. Alliance(in Wildwood Florida) body shop manager said it is a common problem due to a poor design in the joint.
$800.00 to fix and paint each corner, and he stated it will probably crack again.
Had mine repaired 2 years ago, and so far no more cracking.

My roof developed a similar roof edge crack many years ago. I covered the crack with Eternabond tape. Looks OK, and it's not ever going to leak. I decided to not worry about the crack, as long as I can make sure that it will never leak.

Mission accomplished.
