Cracked windshield replacement?
Can anyone point me towards a competent and reasonable shop, preferably in Texas to replace the driver's side windshield of my 2005 Monaco Knight. Also, any ideas on possible cost would be welcomed.
One day after spending 5 figures on my coach I went to bed with 2 pristine windshield panels and woke up the next morning with a top to bottom crack in the driver's side panel. I was on solid almost level asphalt and did what little levelling required as I have done frequently in more than a year of full timing.
This thing is going to send us to a homeless shelter at this rate.

Do you have glass coverage on your insurance? The best bet is to contact one of the national outfits like Duncan Systems. They can arrange for a local installer. They also will handle the insurance claim.

Had windshield replaced Thursday, at RV Fog Doctor Searcy AR. A large one piece windshield. A long drive from Oklahoma, but they are the best. Great indoor shop. Hookups so you can camp on site. $2500. I had $500 deductible. I used them last year to fix 4 badly fogged windows

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, going there would cost $300 in fuel and 10 hours, taking us further away from Colorado where we need to go.

RV Glass Experts are exactly that. We had them reseal the windshield and replace a couple of fogged windows. Reasonable prices and good work if you can get near Coburg.

Have you contacted your insurance company?
Had my drivers side replaced in January, cost me $50 deductible.
Took a couple weeks to order it in.

Insurance suggested RV Glass Solutions. Was on way to Florida, and stopped at one of their locations in Fl. El hookup, stayed for two days. Installed 1st day, but they wanted seal to set for one day. They are base in Oregon. $!00 deductible, believe was $3000+.

FMCA has a program with Guardian Glass. I have not used this program, but you may be able to help you.

If you can wait until you get to Colorado and you don’t mind driving in Denver traffic, there is a place I used at 5800 Federal Blvd. place was called RV Glass Specialties. They had to order my windshield from some place in Oregon. Took a couple days to ship and they did the job in about 4 hours. Place looks like a dump (they share space with a couple of other companies that refurbish coaches), but they did good work. Their phone number is 303-675-3273.

Guardian Glass is a good company from all I hear. They will arrange for someone in your area to install it.

RV Glass Experts also use the name RV Glass Solutions. Same company.
In an interesting aside, as I walked through the warehouse with one of their staff I commented on the number of windshields and that it must represent $10 million in inventory, and she said yes. I asked where the were made and she surprised me when she told me Turkey! Who knew.

I had my windshield replaced at this place in Ft Worth .
About - Dallas, TX - Auto Glass Centers
I guess they did a good job , how do you really know ?
My only complaint would be they are not very friendly , made me wonder
do they have a lot of made customers .
They were not mean just all business and not interested in me asking
if they use flexable sealer that large one piece windshields require .
I asked to see the product but nope can't do that right now , maybe they
were getting some .
I see they have a place in Dallas too , I don't believe they did at the time I
used them .
