CRUISE CONTROL REPAIR - 2005 Roadmaster RR8S Camelot 40PDQ

Hi All,

I have been trying to track down why our cruise control is NOT WORKING.

I searched and found the below thread and cleaned the connections on the top pictured element with the yellow tube (no luck). Our rig does not appear to have the same components as pictured in the bottom picture.

https://www.irv2.com/forums/f115/cru...-310124-2.html

So ??? What Next ???

??? Tear the steering wheel apart and clean the contacts ???

??? ??? ???

!!! Thanks in Advance !!!

Many of these coaches are wired different, but on mine, if I have the Jake Brake on, it turns off the cruise.

Cruise

On my old coach if tail or brake light bulbs weren’t working cruise wouldn’t work. Check in compartment outside below driver. There might be a small box “smart wheel”. Mounted on front side of compartment. Check connections.

Exhaust brake or Jake brake as mentioned in "ON" mode turns off cruise control.

Most likely the 1995 cruise is from non electric injection system is not close to your fly by wire type cruise control. The link didn't work on my phone. My 95 M11 does has electric injection but they were rare option in 95.

Do you have the VIP smart wheel. If so here is a link to the website where you can download a trouble shooting guide. https://www.vipwheels.com/technical-support

Most common problems is either the clock spring, loosed or corroded connectors on the controller, or the controller itself. In some cases the wiring harness going down the steering column gets damaged or the contacts on the clock spring.

I had a problem with mine and found one of the wires going to connectors into the smart wheel controller had come loose. I had been working on the radio when this happened but on closer examination I found that it had come loose before and previous owner did a shoddy job of repairing. Fixed it right and haven't had a problem since, that was +10 years ago.

Where do you see it's a '95? OP says he has a 2005 camelot.

He shared a link to a 95s problem that most likely is not even close to his system. You must have missed this in both posts, as I was trying to have him ignore anything he seen there. A 95 cruise was probably King Cruise and parts or repair no longer available. Not related to his issue at all.

Funny link on my phone/app the box clearly had 95 cruise control in heading and short paragraph kind of like a screen grab. The link on PC is totally different. I don't know why search and links to here function is no good on my android phone/ app. Sorry for the rant carry on.
