That is a "cheater chip" type of power-adder. It works by modifying the boost and fuel pressure sensor data that the computer sees, and absolutely can (and does) increase the stress on the engine and the EGTs.
For something as expensive as an RV with a cummins engine (I have the same engine in a 40' Diplomat from the same year) I would strongly suggest either a computer update from Cummins themselves (I believe there is one available to safely increase the power) or just leave the sensors alone and upgrade the fuel system with a lift pump and better filtration.
Cheater chips are just a bad idea.
