Cummins Power Club

Received an email from FMCA promoting membership to the Cummins Power Club. Anyone a current member? If so, would you recommend membership?

Thanks!

There is a thread here called Cummins Power Club benefits. It might have the answers you are looking for.

I received that same email today as well. I have been considering it by recommendation of many on this forum. I guess cummins is trying to make it easy for us.

I joined when the ISX blew up, saved me a few 100's on parts so I'm already way ahead (but behind $22,000 anyway). I bought two belts and fuel filters and saved 10% on them too.
If you buy parts or need service it will pretty much pay for itself.

I joined when I had the coach in for a complete service, the membership cost was low and offset by the 10%(?) savings on parts/supplies.

If you plan on taking your rig in for a major service or repair it would probably pay to join, or wait until you have a problem and join then.

We had a major problem on our current trip from Ft Myers, FL to Glacier National ark where we are right now.

As we approached Omaha, NE, I noticed a fuel leak under the coach. As I had the oil changed by Speedco in Brunswick, GA at the start of the trip, I pulled into Speedco in Council Bluffs to check the fuel filters. They Advised me the filters were not leaking but there was fuel dripping from the top of the engine. They recommended visiting Cummins Central Power in Omaha which we did.

Six days of camping at Cummins Central Power resulted in the fuel leak repair, a rebuilt turbocharger to replace the original turbo that had no blades (really!) and new exhaust manifolds that were warped. All fixed for a tad over $3000. I had seen the Cummins Power Club brochure at the shop so I joined for $19.95. Since all the parts and labor were by Cummins, I saved $300+ dollars on the bill bringing it down to $2700. A great investment!!!

By the way, the folks at Cummins Omaha get a huge round of applause from me both for their work and friendliness. A First Class facility!

Attached is a photo of the mangled turbo blades.

Hey Thirdwall,

I'm curious, what year and engine do you have. I just had a similar turbo failure on my '06 ISB (5.9)

I suggest joining when you need to save over the cost of membership as Cummins lets you join at any time (even after a major labor and parts bill). Sanford

Being that I have owned vehicle with the Cummins engine in them since 1994, I have saved a good amount of money through the Power Club. I currently have a 5.9, 6.7 and 8.9 Cummins engines in vehicles that we have.
In short, yes it is worth the cost to join!

Cummins said the turbo probably ingested something. All the service techs were wowed by the destruction.

I joined a while ago.

Keep in mind that Onan is part of Cummins, so the discounts also apply to generator parts: got the 10% discount on a bunch of Onan filters, which the local Cummins distributor was already selling for significantly less than the same parts on Amazon. Lower prices, and an additional discount: win-win!

Thanks for the info. Mine failed @ 44k miles due to the variable geometry actuator part of the turbo. Different issue. Thanks for the info.
