Dash A/C blowing black film

Our 2008 Monaco Knight has a problem with the dash A/C (besides being a rather limp A/C). It tends to blow out little pieces of thin black film. The biggest pieces I've seen have been about 3/4" wide and 1/2" long. When you try to pick them up they fall apart. If you accidentally step on them they smudge into the carpet and leave a stain.

The RV mechanic an National Indoor RV used compressed air and a long brush to try clean out the ducts, but the problem continues. They did not know what was causing it. It doesn't appear to be mold, because it hangs together more as a film that disintegrates.

Has anyone else had this happen? If so, what caused it and how did you fix it?

That's most likely the foam seals they use in the AC ducts/Heater Core/Evaporator. When they get old they get brittle. Problem is that I don't think your RV is that old. Could also be your problem with poor performance.

Is it possible that they painted something internal and the paint is coming loose.

Could be. It is about the thickness of a thin paint layer.

I have the same issue in my 08 HR. It is the liner from the flex tube ducting coming off. Nothing to worry about in my opinion. She just cleans it up and curses at me I have been a mechanic for over 40 yrs and seen similar issues in vehicles and heavy equipment that uses the same ducting.
