I finally finished the dash AC repair and it wasn’t a big deal !!
I took the MH down to my local AC parts house to make sure I bought the correct hoses and fittings, thinking I was going to need to replace all the AC hoses from the engine, to the dash. The guy looked at the hoses and said they were fine! I ended up replacing the fittings at the compressor, they were leaking, adding a 2’ length of hose to each, and installing a splice. I also replaced the dryer.
I then took the coach down to a local shop, had the system evacuated and charged. It’s blowing very cold air, 25* at the closest vent to the condenser, YAHOO !!!
Couldn’t be happier !!! Total time for repairs, about 4 hours.
I did have to buy a hand held crimper from amazon, but it worked like a charm !!
Picture of splice, crimped on 1 side, and both sides, on the coach.

Sure easier than replacing all the hoses !!
Great job, love seeing people DIY, where did you purchase your AC hose fittings?

Nice people. They had to use long elbow tubing, from the top fitting because it is extra long. They welded it to a new crimp fitting and crimped it to the new section of hose I needed.

Glad it works as advertised; I did similar a few years ago; but my results weren’t as good. I don’t get very cold air, it’s cool not cold.

There are several reasons for that, if the A/C is charged the first is to make sure the heater control valve is fully closed and not letting hot water into the heater core.

Splicing into an old hose is something I do but an A/C shop that has to warranty their work may not want to. There is a chance of a leak on the old hose connection as it is not soft & pliable. You can check for leaks with soap solution just like for air leaks in the suspension. Not as accurate as a refrigerant detector but will find most hose and connector leaks.

Heater control valve wouldn't close completely (hose was still pretty warm to the touch) on my old Endeavor, so I put a regular ball-valve inline. The AC didn't have to work as hard after that.

In some cases for leak detection we would use dry nitrogen and slowly regulated it up to 300 psi and spray some Windex to find leaks....

No one size fits all in a/c the leak detection process anymore ...it was much easier in the old r-12 days just look for the oil and dirt

ps: Do not use compressed air...... to much moisture

Happy Trails
