When my batteries started to show sign if weakness I put in a desulfation liquid I bought at Harbor Freight. Guess it worked OK as the U-2200's lasted 9 1/2 years. I also put 4oz of mineral oil in each cell.

I've never heard of a "desulfation liquid" before. Could you elaborate? I'm going to have to replace the 6 volt batteries in my golf cart...6 of them. This stuff may be worth a try.

It was only about two and a half years ago that I installed it, so it's too early to tell. The batteries still perform as they did when they were new, but my last set lasted four years.

Glad they're still going strong! Hope that continues to last!

I think I'll take a reputable vendor's idea of battery life as a bit more reliable. Check the NAWS FAQ as an example.
I also rebuild Old tractors ;; And I do replace all week Batteries . and I am only 73 years old.And do not take CHEAP shots at anyone....

re: "And do not take CHEAP shots at anyone...." -- me neither, nor do I feed people BS, nor do I go around proclaiming authority or expertise to support my views, nor do I go around looking for offense.

I see a number of people bragging about 5 or 10 or 15 year or longer battery life in discussions like this as if it is something your average RVer should be able to obtain. That sort of claim, if valid, should show up in such things as warranties or in the battery life seen by larger retailers. It doesn't.

Wild claims with no decent support contradicted by readily available information only propagate bad information and misunderstanding. IMHO that is a bad thing when it comes to trying to help the typical RVer find solutions and make decisions.

Someone may indeed get longer than typical battery life. Bragging about it doesn't help others. What would help is to know how the end of life point was determined, what use profile the battery serviced, what maintenance was done on the battery, environmental conditions for the battery during its lifetime, and how factors such as this fit in with what is known about battery management. Was that unusual life just a statistical fluke or was there something behind it, something we might be able to do ourselves so our batteries would last longer?
