I think one of the major contributors to high Diesel is that the Fed has been flooding the world with Dollars. That has caused the value of the dollar to drop and since oil is priced in dollars the cost has gone up.

Mutt you are not alone in your thinking. Now when we go to like Las Vegas we stay in a hotel for even less then the cost of a campground.......not to mention ( I just did) my wife's BMW 335D (D for diesel) gets 75MPG. Yes that is NOT a typo. deSanford

Tell me how you manage this and I could probably make both you and I very rich.

Here are the official figures.

I just paid $3.99 at a Valero on the south side of Tyler TX ...Valero on the North side had $4.09 posted, and a few miles north at I-20 it was $4.14 at a couple of stations.

I can explain VERY SIMPLY Fill up the tank of diesel and get on the freeway and let the wife drive 75-85 MPH and arrive in Las Vegas with the computer showing 75.5MPG. Then go over to the first diesel station and fill up. Divide the Miles traveled by the gallons purchased to confirm, and there you have it 75.5MPG. Now when I came home I showed the BMW dealer my picture of the computer reading of 75.5MPG and he tells me yes we know, but if we advertised that we wouldn't be able to sell any of our other cars. That folks is the TRUTH!!!! deSanford

PS The car has TWO turbos and is the fastest off the line aka red light.

Do you like the diesel? We owned a 2009 x5 4.8i drive that would haul the mail. I wanted to order the wife a new x5 diesel because I had heard there were fast also. Stupid torque!! Well anyways went to the local dealer to drive one and they did not have one on the lot.... So called around and nobody close had one! They didn't know when one would come in. So we bought a range rover. Anyways back to my original question. Do you like the diesel? I think I will keep checking with the dealer.

Heater I believe it is the BEST car out there. This might be the last year a BMW dealer can get one. These are almost hand built and were featured on the Discovery Channel showing how they are built in Germany. It is a " LIFETIME" car, because you will NEVER wear it out. You can pass it to your kids as a legacy from you. My other "luxury" car is a E320CDI 2005 Mercedes Diesel that is a straight 6 with one turbo, but is only gets about 40 miles PG on the freeway. I also have a Isuzu Trooper 1985 diesel 4 cylinder diesel (one turbo) that we sometimes tow behind our MH. Yes we have two gas cars, one Mini Cooper S and a ZO6 2002 Corvette. deSanford
