Diplomat Rear Carrying capacity Versus Towing

Has anyone any info on the rear carrying capacity of our 2000 diplomat ? Roadmaster R 2900 Chassis, it does not have a tag axle.

I am partially disabled in that I can't walk far,but often need to get around for short trips etc. so we were toying with the idea of carrying a lightweight street legal golf cart, 3 wheel sport scooter, or ATV, etc. I have seen some on the internet that are under 400 lbs

Hey Gordo,

My 01 Windsor 38 PBDD has a 10,000 lb towing capacity, with 1000 lb. hitch tongue weight capacity, I think it's the same as your Dip.

Rick

P. S. My Profile MH is wrong, we purchased an 01 Windsor 38' PBDD. can't seen to beable to change my profile.

Gordon....As RickT stated, most of the hitches are rated at 10,000/1000 pounds. If you could keep the whole project to around 700 pounds you'd probably be okay. There are all kinds of lift systems.

Here is another idea The ultimate single wheel trailer system.

Use caution when adding any type of carrier to the rear of a motorhome using a rear mounted radiator. This may cause a restriction to the radiator air flow and cause overheating.

Mandys Man,

Thanks for the support. One of the PM's I sent UK Gordo contained the exact link you posted. Additionally one of the towbar/lift/rack companies has a rule of thumb for hanging something on a class III hitch. After the math it was a max of 385lbs.

Gordon most Golf Carts weigh around 800 lb there is a small version that I have seen that would be lighter ?? dont know the weight. The weight at the hitch is not the weight the axle will see because of the lever effect, I will attach a file that gives you the info on how to figure the real axle weight.
I hope I attached the adobe file right?
It is real easy to overload your rear axle and a lot of folks do it and get by with it, this is just to make you aware of where you are at.
