Domestic AC whine

I had posted in July of last year that the new AC I installed had a loud whistle in the air intake on all speeds and Domestic gave me and the dealer the run around. I visited Domestic booth and gave the young man a run down on what we had done backed up with notes names and dates we calmly discussed the problem and he assured me that they would do whatever it takes to solve the problem he then ordered a new AC to be sent to my dealer, I asked him had they redesigned the air intake he said that 3 or more changes had been made. We shall see and I will report the out come at a later date.

Old Post

I installed a new Dometic mod# 641516 15,000 AC about a month ago to replace my 13,500 heat pump and it has a pretty loud whine that is coming from the air intake (loud enough that you have trouble staying up front or watching TV up front) I have been into the fan intake side cant find anything, I have had it at a dealer he could not find the trouble and I have pull it off two times double checking the installation cant find anything. I called Dometic and they acted like they had never heard of the problem since they redesigned the old metal fan housing to the new plastic housing, I found out that was not so as this has been going on for a while and 3 others on one of the forums has the problem and one had 3 units installed until he found one that whined low enough that he could live with, Is anyone here having this problem? It makes the noise on all three speeds and as loud on low as it is on hi speed .

Barlow yep no change over the last 8 months I have tried everything including removing it 2 times my self, the only thing I know that could help is Rex designed a intake cover that helps some but my wife hearing is so good it would still bother her. No the problem is in the design of the air intake or fan blades and there are quite a few of us that have the whiners I sure hope that they have it solved. Last resort I will move it to the rear and run it only in the day and front at night. Right now she can hear it at night if we run it.
