Dometic 1402 quit cooling

My 6 year old Dometic 1402 "Side by Side" quit cooling on both freezer and fridge side. I've run through the diagnostics, and confirmed that I have AC and 12VDC available and all door sensors are OK. Both fridge and freezer motors run when tested. The only possible error is the test for on surface sensors (diagnostic test 04) which return -6 and 00 as values, which are not correct temperatures.

I have tried running it on AC only, all motors run but no cooling. I switched it to manually to Gas and same thing... I can hear that the flame is burning and everything runs but no cooling .

My preference is actually fixing the fridge, so if you have any suggestions to try, that would be great. But I am prepared to have it fixed or even replace it with another 1402 or even with a residential fridge. I am in the Houston area, so if you know someone I would appreciated recommendations.

Merry Christmas,

John

If you remove the outside vent cover, do you see any yellow powder or residue from leaks?
Have you gotten any ammonia smell from it?

Dometic 1402 quit cooling

Two years ago, Dometic factory service told me there were no more NDA 1402's to be had anywhere in their system as they were out of production. This as I struggled with similar problems. Luckily I was under extended warranty and they had to buy my refrigerator back from me to fulfill the warranty. That after all parties decided it couldn't be fixed. So, you probably can't find a replacement. Fix it if you can, but I would start planning to replace it with a residential model. It's a pain, but you won't regret it. The 1402 wasn't exactly a Dometic masterpiece. My coach at the time was also a 2009 Monaco product.

No yellow powder and no ammonia smell. Guess it is time to find someone who can replace the unit.

Thanks for your replies.

Too bad you aren't closer. I will be removing mine in the next month or so. Works fine. I did also see a complete unit for sale at Visone.
Good luck.

John: If it turns out you need any circuit boards let me know as mine is in pieces in the barn. Free for the asking.

As I recall, there are 3 boards in that puppy.
