Dometic NDA1402 - Need Help Turning Off Water to Icemaker

In our 2008 Monaco Diplomat 40PDQ, we have a Dometic NDA1402 refrigerator/freezer. Works great except for the Icemaker which does not work (we have an Igloo portable that works for us.). It is dripping internally and causing frost to buildup causing us to have to defrost far more than we should have to. We want to disconnect the water from going into the frig. The manual did not help and we seem to have turned off the wrong thing. Does anyone know how to turn the water off? Thank you.

I don't have a Diplomat, but I have a icemaker shut off valve near my water pump, which you shut when winterizing, and a water shut off inside the lower vent panel behind the refridgerator.

Does your coach have what they call a Manibloc? It is a manifold of valves, blue and red, that will likely be in your wet bay, probably behind a hinged panel, and likely where you water filter(s) might be located. If so, there will probably be one valve on the blue (cold) side labeled for the ice maker. If not, you may be able to pull a cupboard drawer or access panel below your refrigerator to allow you to trace the tubing that serves the ice maker.

To stop the leak for now, you could just unplug the ice maker from the outlet behind your refrigerator. That's accessible from outside by removing the rectangular louvered access cover. There will be two outlets. One is inverter fed, and that is for your ice maker. The other is "shore power" fed, and that is for your AC supply to the refrigerator cooling unit. Just unplug the one for your ice maker.

RISK: If you just unplug it, you will still have water in that feed line, and if the coach is later allowed to freeze, you will likely have a leak to repair or control. So be sure you ultimately turn off the water supply at its source.

Now, another thought for you. Those little solenoid valves actually are notorious for failing, over time. When they do, a common failure mode is for them to allow a very tiny flow of water even when the valve is de-energized. That can cause what you are describing.

Before you do anything, you might try disconnecting the little clear line that goes up the back of the fridge to the ice maker at the valve. Then watch and see if there might be an extremely low flow of water coming from that fitting. If not, I don't know what might be causing your problem. But if there is a tiny leakage, then replacing the solenoid valve might get you back in business as the coach was designed to be and with your problem solved.

A solution that returns a system to its original design state is usually preferred over an ill-conceived patch or a "work-around".

Ben, thank you. This was the lever (see photo) that we believed we had turned cross-ways to turn off the water flow. After testing the water dispenser in the door before turning the lever, and the getting no water after we turned it, we are thinking we accomplished our goal. Thank you for taking the time to respond. ~Brett

No problems!
Like I said, you will have another further upstream in the basement near the water pump, but the one you found will stop the water getting into the fridge.

Jim, by '08 they weren't installing a water manibloc in the Scepter / Camelot's. I'd be more than shocked if they were putting them in Diplomats.
