Door bracket substitute?

The bracket at the top of the entry door on my 2002 Monaco Windsor is too short and will not let the door open a full 90 degrees. Monaco parts told me that there were two brackets made at that time, one like mine, and another one 3 inches longer. My MH should have had the longer bracket, but obviously someone on the assembly line used the wrong one. Since Navistar did not own Monaco at the time this MH was built, they will not assume responsibility for the error. They will sell me the longer one for about $120, which is an outrageous price for a simple metal bracket!

Has anyone come up with a work-around solution for this problem? I thought about moving both ends of the bracket closer to the hinge side of the door, but the end on top of the door has a recessed bracket. Any ideas on this will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Rex! I called Monaco parts yesterday morning and they said the brackets were made by QC Metal Fabricators in Elkhart. I called them and got dimension sheets. I am going to see if I can get my bracket extended to the longer length. Again, thanks for you help!
