Draining out fresh water system question

2000 Dynasty with dual water filters.
Can anyone advise how to drain the filters so I do not get the nasty smelling water? I know the system should be disinfected but i am trying to get it drained out. I have the fresh water drain that is by the fill dumped. The Hot water heater drained. and there is a hot and cold drain that is by the filters that i drained out but how do the drain the filters other than taking the canisters off?
I have two that are very similar to what i have in my home.
thanks!
Rusty

Welcome to the forum.
This forum is searchable also as there're posts dealing with these issues.
Prior to changing them you might contemplate sanitizing your whole water system in a system prescribed manor.
With the pressure relieved you more than likely unscrew those canister filter housings.
Many times by hand, but a plastic filter wrench can often be required. You'll require replacement filters. Often they are of the 2.5" x 10" generic variate that can be found at a RV or home improvement store. Lubing the O-rings helps also.
Depending on the make and style of your water heater there could a sacrificial anode to be replaced. Flushing the water heater tank helps as it can present a rotten egg aroma in some instances.
Best of luck

You will probably need to change the filters to get rid of the smell and taste.

You can't drain the filter housings. You just unscrew them and place a drain pan below.
