Drive Axle Flange Torque???????

Hate to start another thread, but have spent 2 days looking for the answer to this question. Does anyone know the torque setting for the axle flange nuts on a 2000 Monaco Dynasty? We have an Eaton differential and the number on the axle flange is M69. The flange is a 12 bolt flange. The studs look to be 1/2 inch. The nuts take a 3/4 socket. There are cones under the nuts. We want to make certain we have the correct torque setting so as to not break a stud. The numbers I have found have varied from 40 lbs to 150 lbs. Don't think 40 is enough to seal the flange. However I'm leary of the 150 lbs. This must be repaired before we get on the road again. Any info is appreciated. Thanks and God Bless, Ed & Sylvia.

Thank you CountryB. The axle and differential on our MH are Eaton. The stud size is 1/2 and the tool size is 3/4. Not 11/16th like the Dana-Spice. So not so sure if it is the same. In addition the nuts are locking nuts. Thanks for taking the time to look and offer help! God Bless, Ed & Sylvia

Ed, Eaton joined up with Dana / Spicer to build some axles.

My '08 coach has one.

Ben and Bob, thank you for taking the time and effort to respond. Here is a Meritor chart I located on the forum. It has the torque range for the locking nuts as well as the non-locking. We() were able to stop the leaking at around 60lbs. Will torque closer to the top end of the 65-100. Again thank you for looking in and helping out. God Bless, Ed & Sylvia

Mine has the 12 hole flange with cones, but standard nuts.

We replaced the flange gaskets with a bead of RTV.

Only a few hundred miles since, but so far, so good!

Aaaaahh, my chance to rail against the mechanics at Transwest in Belton, MO. They replaced seals on my Dana drive axle and under-torqued them twice. Not once, but twice. The first time I didn't get 10 miles until I was throwing oil. Took it back and they begrudgingly told me that'd fix it but if it continued to leak it was my axle. I got another 1500 miles or so and the leaking returned. I took the chrome hub cap off and could tighten them easily with a 12" wrench. My lugs are 5/8" and I shouldn't have been able to move them. I tightened them up best I could with my small wrench. Checked the other side and it was just as lose. The leaking stopped and when I got to some better tools I torqued them to Dana specs. No more leaking and that was quite a few thousand miles ago. All that aggravation and paying $185/hour for it. Dang it.

Ben, good idea. We purchased a tube of the RTV and borrowed a torque wrench from Autozone. If they start leaking again, will use the RTV. BonS, exactly, that's why I prefer to do all of my own wrenching. At least all I'm capable of doing. Too many of the so called "expert" techs are simply parts replacers. They have never had to "repair" anything. If it's not listed in the computer system, it is out of their pay-grade and they can't think out of the box to figure something out! Probably one of the important aspects of torquing the nuts is using the correct torque sequence. I have a photo of that but due to our lack of service have been unable to post it. Will do so when we have service. God bless, Ed & Sylvia

Looks as if the axle flange leak is good to go. About 100 miles down the road and it is no longer leaking. God bless to all and safe travels. Ed & Sylvia
