Drivetrain locked

Coach has been sitting for a month or so - started fine, gauges normal. No warning lights. When I put it in gear, forward or reverse I feel it lock in gear with authority, but the coach will not move. Triple checked the airbrake, but when I apply gas you can feel it trying, the tach goes up but it simply will not move. Maybe some sort of safety is engaged ? It will not roll in neutral. I do not have hatch sensors, the slides are disabled when the ignition is on.

Ideas ?

Sounds like your park brake pads are frozen to the drums.

Do some searches and see what the best option to free. I know I've read that one option is to put it in 1st gear and keep giving it throttle until it pops loose BUT that's risky.

Maybe someone with experience with this can chime in.

I agree that the brakes have rusted from sitting .I usually rock the coach back and forth to get the shoes to break loose from the drums. Happens more often when they are wet when the coach gets parked for awhile.

Chock wheel, release brakes, roll under and smack the drums with a good size hammer. If no dust shields could also pry on shoes with a pry bar. Above freezing rusted, below freezing could actually be frozen. Either way hammer works. Good luck.

Perhaps a dumb question but would my Coach Net cover a mobile mechanic ? I am going to try the suggestions above but if I can't get it ....

They might cover it, not sure. Must admit it freaked me out first time it happened to me. I searched air brakes locked up on this site, and most replies said to shift from reverse to forward. When I just rocked it back and forth gently the rust broke free.

Ok then, I feel better because yeah I freaked out. I just spent a couple days moving my huge shed (by myself with ancient engineering techniques) in order to free up space to get my coach level, and now the thing will not move lol. At least I was not heading out for a trip.

One other thing to try is to put it in reverse to break the brakes loose, if possible, they are designed to be more aggressive in a forward direction, it’s easier on everything, hitting the brake drums would be my second choice, start out hitting it lightly, you can always hit it harder, just an old truckers perspective fwiw.

You should drive it use the brakes a lot ,to clean up the drums and pivot points.

ice climber is your coach equiped with steel wheels or alcoas if steel and no chrome wheel discs just get a 4/5 lb hammer and pound the wheel usually just a couple smacks will jar the shoes loose allowingb the coach to freely move if alcoa wheels donot pound on the wheels as it will damage them you can try several hard brake applications make sure air is right up then stomp on the btrake pedal this may also jar shoes enough to release the brakes good luck
