Route 66.
Can you tell me where you got the fans from and how big are they roughly in diameter? Do they run whenever the receiver is on or did you tie them to some type of temp sensor?
Thanks

They are 120mm variable speed and I have an on/off switch but I'm a fulltimer and I leave them on all of the time. They've been running constantly for 3 years now.

Looking for ideas or ways to cool the receiver cabinet. Relocating receiver not really an option.

Assume you know you can go to menu and setup and systems info and more info and see the internal temp. Mine is 123 right now here in Las Vegas where the outside temp is showing 116.
At home my DVR was running about the same, 120 in cool house so I went to Staples and got a notebook fan that plugs into the USB in back of DVR and it keeps the temp at 109.
These type fans are very inexpensive and mine did the job without going to a lot of cabinet work. Here is example.

Do a search on temperature controlled fans, you will finds lots of them, all sizes, speeds, voltage, etc. Their chief advantage is that they vary the speed of the fan, thus they are very quiet. Prices should be $10 or so and upwards.
here is an example of a good Vantec.
Amazon.com: Vantec Thermoflow TF12025 120x120x25mm Double Ball Bearing Temperature Controlled Case Fan (Black): Electronics
you should be able to find this fan at a better price. This fan may be larger than you need. A 4" should move more than enough air for the small space in a typical RV electronics cabinet.

I also installed two of the computer fans to my TV cabinet. My TV is what shuts down from the heat. When I run the fans everything is ok.

Route 66. Questions concerning the fans you installed. Did you wire them as 12 volt or is it possible to wire them as 110 with some kind of adapter. The other question I have concerning the 120mm fan is the size of the fan blade diameter? Is that what the 120mm size refers to or is it somewhat smaller.
Thanks
