Duo Thermastat difificult to adjust ?

On our 1998 Dynasty the thermostat is very sporadic as to adjusting both the mode and /or the temp up and down. You have to push it numerous times with nothing happening and then it seems to have own mind and then will respond ?
Has any one had this issue before and is there a fix ? Thanks in advance for any sage advice.

Is this a Dou Therm 4 button thermostat ?

If so the unit is obsolete , but there is info in the forums for contacting someone who rebuilds them.

This is an old link , but has many contact links for parts that could still work.

I just went through mine and fixed it up. It seems it can be replaced with a modern one but then you also need to replace the circuit boards in all your A/C units as well. So, more $$.

On mine the on-off switch had a solder crack making it turn itself off. This was easy to fix and I re-flowed all the solder joints while I was at it. Also, the buttons are a known issue. You can replace them but it's hard to find the buttons. You can also take them apart and bend the little tabs in them to get them working again. If you do that, press them lightly and don't bottom them out and they will probably last a long time.

Thanks to so many for the older string that shows me the options. Very much value this forum and even more its members knowledge and wonderful ways of communicating with such integrity and respect.
