Dynasty Slide Room Reinforcement?

Does anyone know what the black bar that is showing up on older monaco slides is for? See my photo. we are looking to purchase an 05 Dynasty. We have seen these on numerous oMnaco, HR, and Beaver Products recently.

Locking mechanism for the slide would be my guess.

If your talking about the black metal pieces on the part of the slide that extends then yes they are for locking the slide in place both in and out.

If your talking about the black plastic bar on the side of the slide out, that is the locking device when the slide is 'in'. What you see is a hard plastic cover covering the mechanical links. Not all slides have them, but if they have them, you will always find 2 on each slide. I spray dry lube into the working parts 2x a year but have never had an issue.

They are instead of the internal locking bars found on many motorhomes. Hassel free and never have to worry about the slide moving out going down the road. They are kind of disconcerting the first time you run the slide out. They hang on to the top of the slide and tilt the bottom up a little, until they release. Mine work great, with occasional lubing.
