EchoCharger with AGM and Standard batteries
Has anyone successfully used an EchoCharger with InterState 6v standard lead acid (GC2-XHD) batteries with InterState Optima AGM batteries(SC31DS)?
Last June I bought the above batteries for a 2008 Monaco Diplomat, plugged in the EchoCharger and on a trip noticed a lot of outgassing with white corrosion all over and through the battery case. When parked, I had rust colored and white staining on the ground beneath the battery compartment, but voltage checks showed that all batteries were charged to their proper volts.
I cleaned everything thoroughly and kept noticing a lot of wetness on the outside of all of the 6v batteries.
Within two months on 110v shore power in storage, all of the batteries were completely dead and the motorhome tripped the GFCI circuit on the shore power.
As of now, I've replaced all of the batteries with GC2-XHD 6v for the house and 31-XHD for the chassis. I've removed the EchoCharger, charged the batteries through the GenSet and engine alternator, and am using the battery disconnect switches for storage.
Any better ideas?
