Eclipse Slide Topper

I have the eclipse slidetopper and the thing is not rusted through but the t piece that goes into the spring will not stay put.Ithere something i am missing as to how to attach the t piece

Eclipse is a Carefree of Colorado patio awning. Not a slidetop cover .

All the toppers and the awning are carefree of colorado.its the slidetopper that i have a problem with

Rotation

I an replacing the spring on my slides topper can any one give me the direction to tighten it up. I beleive it is an omega 11 not sure.
