EGT on Class A's ?
When I had 5ers I always used an engine monitor to show me various temps, including exhaust gas temp. I was always very careful not to let the EGT get above 1250 degrees. I notice that my 2002 Monaco Windsor 40PBT has some temp gauges, but not an EGT. Is there something in the Cummins ISC engine that keeps the EGT from getting too high?

Joe, in stock form there shouldn't be an EGT issue. Not to say a problem couldn't arise to cause a high EGT reading. Id assume that and the cost of adding another gauge is why no EGT monitors were used

There is no pyrometer on the engine at all. The ecm doesn't have a clue. And no, I'm not positive there could never be an issue with stock tuning. I've "heard" people who say sometimes there is...

No Issue that I know with the ISC 350 (I assume you have) but it not hard to add one, I installed one on our old 99 Dip when I chiped the ISB engine just drilled a hole in the Exhaust Manifold as close to the outlet as possible threaded it and installed using the wires already run in the coach, I was careful about the metal shavings going into the manifold

Make sure you put the PYRO probe before the turbo as after the turbo the temps could be 300* less. Walt is right about the shavings. Use a cotton swab with a little grease on it to probe into the hole to remove any metal shavings. Others have connected the rear end of a shop vac to the exhaust pipe to pressure the manifold to blow out the shavings while drilling. I have also read of others running the engine at fast idle to accomplish this important part of the probe installation. Some of the newer diesel engines the TCM detects the higher heat and reduces the fuel thereby lowering the EGTs. I just had a Boost and Pyro gauges installed as inquiring minds want to know what is happening. deSanford

The Banks kit I installed came with a boost and EGT gauge. Had to drill into the exhaust manifold and tap the hole. Stuffed a rag down the manifold, vacuumed out the port, then pulled the rag out. No shavings left.
With the Banks the EGT will be limited to 1250° - 1300°, then it dials back the power to lower the temps.
Stock engine should never get over 1200° due to the tuning.
