Electric cord to unit
I will be having an electrician install a 50 amp hookup for our 40' Monaco Windsor in the near future at our home. In the meantime I would like to run the refrigerator, the TV - satellite, and a light or two what gage extension cord do I need, is this two many amps to pull? I have an outside plug on a 30amp breaker to plug in

AWG 10 copper for 30 amps. No that is not too much for 30amps to handle. you probably can run all that and the ac unit. I used to run that and more in my 5th wheel when packing it up for the road.

The longer the run the bigger the wire, I agree 10 gauge wire should handle load with one a/c unit.

A 12 ga. extension cord will handle that load ( 20 amps). Best to use 10 ga for anything more tho. your circuit would need to be 30 amp.

What kind of receptacle do you have that's 30 amp ?
If it happens to be an older dryer receptacle you will have
240 volts at that receptacle .
I don't want to be negative but unless you know what you
are dealing with and how to wire it into the coach you can
really do some damage .
Please be careful

The fridge is 3 amps, the TV and sat. box is maybe 2 more and a few light are 2 or 3 amps.
You can basicly run any outdoor cord you have to power that stuff. Even if the battery charger is running, although you will want a heavy duty 14 amp cord, you will be well under a 30 amp service.
No combination of ACs, Microwaves or Water heaters unless you use a 10 gauge cord to your 30 amp RV outlet. IT MUST BE A RV OUTLET.

Cord size may also depend on the length of run you are contemplating. Obviously, the bigger the diameter (ie, 12 10, 8, etc gauge) the better, no matter the length.

I rarely hear anyone complain about going premium but it hear it all the time if you go cheap.
I got 2 of these at HomeDepot. You can get a 10 gauge cord most anywhere; what I liked about these are the power on light in the receiver so you know you have power in the cord.
I had to run 2 combined to cover the distance between my power pedestal and where the RV was parked on some acreage, they worked great. I dog tailed the RV 50 amp style plug down to a regular 110 style for the extension cord.

Try what you have if you care to. If you don't load up everything at once, feel the cord from time to time and it's temperature will either comfort you or alert you.
It really is that simple. We used a 50' 30A RV cord with zero issues. Only 1 A/C at a time.

Two answers depending on how long you plug in BEFORE you turn everythiung on Or on State of Charge of Battery.
If you are less than 100' from the outlet and do not mind plugging in a couple hours ahead (or if batteries are full up) I would recommend a 12 ga cord from Sears or K-Mart the ones with the push button on the outlet and a PUCK type adapter to your power cord. That's more than enough once teh converter reaches absorption mode. You will be drawing less than 10 amps courd is good to 20, plug and outlet 15.
NOTE: That is what I use.

Why not use the current 50 amp cord that I assume you already have, and the necessary adapter(s) at the outlet so that you can plug in?
