Electronic toilet switch

In our new to us 07 Monaco Diplomat, the plastic cover on the light/heavy flow toilet switch is worn, loose. The switch works but sometimes seems you need to push harder. We’ve not had a toilet like this before. Normal or should be replaced? Thank You

Replace with a non electric toilet. One less thing to go wrong when the power goes out.

If your toilet is the same as mine, just replace the switch. I bought mine here. Make sure electrical connections are clean.

Probably a Dometic ??? Two buttons??? There is a replacement wiring harness and switch assembly available. I bought a new one but haven't installed it yet. Guess I will just wait till it is an emergency.

These things can't just be replaced by the non electric models. They are designed to pump things and cannot drop straight down.

I hate the push buttons on the side of the toilet. Do they make a switch kit to move it on the wall?

Previous owner of my coach added a second set of switched mounted about chest high behind the toilet. He used telephone wire and 2 momentary switches and made a mount plate. NO IDEA how he did it but is is convenient. The original switch is still in place and he used a telephone splitter to connect it to the toilet and original switch. You might look at buying a replacement switch and modifying it to mount to the wall.

I do like being able to flush the toilet without putting my noise in it

Well had to use the toilet today while at the coach and now the valve at the bottom of the bowl is open. I can rinse but valve stays open?

You can close it manually by reaching around the back, there is a knob that you turn but it will wear you out. This happened to my wife on a trip and she finally closed it almost completely shut so she could do #1 without flushing and did her business in other places until she got it home.
I fixed it by taking the toilet out and apart, cleaning everything, and putting some lithium type lube on the shaft that rotates. When you put it back together you have to make sure to tighten the bolts equally.

Since then I've also started using a lube that Thetford sells to keep the seals lubed.

It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it

You don't need a kit. You can unbolt the switch and put it anywhere you like. I covered the old hole where the switch was, with one of those round covers you use to cover an extra hole on your sink top, next to your faucet. I painted mine to match the toilet.

The existing wire won't be long enough. The new wire has to be a 'reversible' RJ11 cord, available on amazon, any length you want. I've never seen them at Lowes/HD.

Electronic toilet switch

Good that’s great to know WB. I’m use to just lifting up with my foot to fill the bowl, easy. Reversible, do you mean the ends are 180 out from one another? I had to make one up when I placed my Progressive Ind. monitor in my old coach using the existing telephone Jack.
