Emergency: Need Charge Air Cooler ASAP

We have an 09 Imperial with a 500 ISM. Was having Boost problems, took to Cummins yesterday, diagnosed leaks in CAC.
They contacted HR, with no real answers. So I am turning to y'all for some help. They said they would install anything I found, but struggling with that.
Does anybody know where they would have one that I can get sent right to the shop? Or a part number?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Can you by any chance patch the existing one with some foil HVAC tape or maybe some fiberglass? It's probably not going to be permanent but it might get you down the road for a while. I can't help with a replacement. Good luck.

Foil will NOT work-- too much pressure.

JB Weld.

It will need to be removed and pressure tested to see where it is leaking OR determine if either badly cracked or if it had been operated in salt environments and not reasonably reparable.

There’s the place in Alabama. Can’t remember the name, but it’s been mentioned here in this forum many times. I’m sure a search will turn it up.

Salvage yards are probably faster than trying to get one if you don't have a clue who made it. Take a picture, size overall, inlet/outlet, etc. Email that, call them.

Local welder or radiator shop, might be able to get you going fastest.

Years ago it was common to fix a leaky radiator in the vehicle, cut the tube at the leak, pinch it closed and solder the 2 ends. You'd lose one tube but it didn't matter a lot in the long run.

Got a call into Colaw and Visone
I was hoping one of the places would have more specific answers, I am going to take off louvers and get pics and measurements.
Thanks for the help, keep it coming.

Bob, CG&J, Brice Thomas Radiator in Gadsden is outstanding. They also R&R the CAC right there in their shop, plus any other repairs needed on your radiator or oil cooler. We had ours done at a reasonable price I think.

Call Kim Gilbert, shop manager @ 800 223-4299 If you are in Florida hopefully you can limp up to Gadsden, Alabama

They also may have the specs for your CHC and could send one but it would be cheaper to have yours rebuilt. Their R&R cost is also very reasonable. Good luck..Larry

Thanks, unfortunately I am in VA. My job has me moving every week or 2, and we live in our coach full time. I'd really like to find a replacement part, as the guys at Cummins will do the install.

AGAIN, pull it out and determine if it is reparable or has to be replaced.

JB weld can certainly fix small leaks. Cracked side tank-- less likely.

The shop shouldn't try to make a "repair vs replace" decision until it is out and tested.

Said another way, some leaks are pretty easy to fix, some, not so much!

A radiator shop may be able to tig weld it if it's in the tank.

When I had to have my radiator replaced due to road debris I decided to have the CAC cleaned and checked. They found it was leaking bad, I went in and they dropped it in a tank and put pressure on it and it looked like a jaccuzi.

They sent it off and had it repaired somewhere in Alabama, which must be the hub. Took ~week, cost $1650.

I bought the radiator from CG&J, if they've ever fixed a CAC in a 2009 Imperial they will have a detailed drawing.

We determined at least one leak, at a rubber grommet. My mechanic still suggest replacing with a new CAC. The problem I am finding is actually finding one. Have been emailing back and forth with CG&J. They can't determine an exact fit without removing it, and get pictures and precise measurements, they think they have what I need, but have to be sure on fit. They also said fastest turn around would be a recore. As I am on a tight timeline. From removal to replacement, I have 12 days (19th-30th)total.
If, and only if, I could get the exact measurements without removing, I could have it sitting here on day of removal. I guess it's just a dream that this will go as planned......
