Engine cover adjustment?

My fiberglass engine cover is very, very hard to close. I got to check 2 other coaches at Quartzsite last week and they both operated very easy. One was a Beaver, the other was a Signature.
This is the wider cover, unlike all ofvthe Camelots I saw.
I removed both gas struts, 135# each! Verified these are used on another. I still have binding at the very end of the closing stroke.
Any specifics on where to look? If I could get very small, crawl in and close the hatch...well...that won't happen!

Have you lubed the pivot points? I have a Sig. and you can open and close it with one hand.

Yes. Lots of silicone the other day.
It is equally hard on both sides.

Just a idea, Maybe your door is not even when you close it and it binds, There are 5 bolts the mount the bracket to the coach. If you loosen the bolts on one side and close the lid to see if it self adjusts and dose not bind it might help figure it out what is not right.

I see shims on both sides on the lower part of the mechanism (on coach). Thinking about the geometry. ..I think that might be binding it. Not sure

I have two shims on both sides too, on top. This is how mine looks. Don't know if this will help. Sorry I should have rotated the pictures, did not notice that until I posted them.

Mine is shimmed just like that, but from the bottom. Once I get those rams back on, I will try that

I think all the shims do is to make it flush with the coach body when closed.

Well that only made it worse. :(
I put it back together and will not pursue at this point. Too heavy for one person to mess with.

You might check if the cover is still tight on the lifts. I recently had to re-glue my cover to the bracket because the door was so difficult to open and close.

Yeah..it is all still very secure there.
It has to be something with the alignment and camber if how it pulls in.
Once it gets near the bottom, it just help push it into place (with the struts and looking at the geometry of the brackets ).
Perplexing. ...
