Entry Door Scissor Arm, Yet Again
I need to replace my scissor arm. I am just getting over the price shock! But I want to have y old one rebuilt. I know there is one fellow who does this for Monaco owners. Does anyone have his name and email? I do not want to retrofit to a gas cylinder. Thanks

Thanks; I just found your post on this subject in the Yahoo forum but Yahoo clips email addresses. Thanks again. Do you happen to know the correct size and type of pop rivet to hold the bracket to the upper door frame?

I don't remember the size but it was a pretty standard size, available at Lowes or HD.

According to Monaco coach, the rivet is 3/16" x 3/4". they said they preferred stainless steel. I am not sure that it will be that easy to find, unless you go with a 3/4" long uncompressed rivet. I could only find steel or aluminum in a quick check of some auto parts stores. I am getting ready to remove mine and try to repair it. Will have to look harder I guess. Hope this May help. I had my door off to repair the vinyl (it had puckered) and get the window resealed, so it was off the coach anyway. Took it home and on a little anvil attached to my vice I hammered it tight. Not perfect but much less of a pain.

I have removed and replaced the swing arm twice and used aluminum pop rivets both times. They seem to work just fine for that application.
On a recent trip to Lazydays I noticed that new Tiffins and Newmars are using a different type of swing arm that could be a solution other than changing to a gas strut. I have been trying to find a source for that new type swing arm but have not been successful yet. Instead of the lap over catch that requires the rivet that joins the two sections to be tight, this swing arm had a slot in one piece and a dowel in the other that locked into the slot when the door was opened all the way. It seem to work well and would not be subject to wear in the connecting rivet. I wish now I had used my phone to take a video and snap a photo.

The new shock instead of the swing arm has been working for almost a year now. I never even thing of it.

Moisheh, The Newmar door holder may be to thick to stack in the same area Monaco uses. I heard that the want more than 200.00 for it but can be had for 85.00 from ptlengineering.com, Hold Open Mechanisms | PTL Engineering
