Steve, just one more question. I don't mean to question what you said above, but when I open one of my storage bay doors there is a delay as it opens, unless I pull it up. I'm still a little concerned about the entry door. I don't want to be standing there waiting for it to open. Could the difference be that the storage bay door is having to open up with the weight of the door against it? Thanks!

With the door strut, if you hold the door & push it open, you will not notice any opening speed difference. If you pull the handle & give a slight push & let the strut push it open, it will be somewhat slow, but it's not an issue for me. I think it's a function of the 15 pound weight of the strut. If I push it open or pull it closed, I don't really notice very much resistance.

I did invert the top bracket so the ball faces down and the door mounted ball faces up. The strut is pretty much level with and just clears the top of the door. Steve , Thanks for the extra pictures. I like the position that you mounted your strut, it seems to me that it is a cleaner install and lays flat against the door. Nice Job.

I have over the last few years been thinking of installing a strut also and have tried to come up with a install that would not interfere with the screen door. I tried one on the bottom but have since replaced our carpet with tile so that's out. Lately I have been inspired by these posts, so I came up up with a strut mount that doesn't show on the outside and is not noticeable on the inside and works very well. I will post pictures after the Monaco Quartzsite meet in the desert. So if you want to see it, come to Quatzsite.

Joe, Sorry about the teaser but you could even tag along with CrazyKnight and Vanwill. They will be driving right buy your house almost, fuel has never been better priced and the market has never been higher also the weather is warmer too.
