Hi All- little bit late, but any recomendations for a RV park near Estes Park? I have read the IRV2 posts about Elk Meadow already so am looking for something more positive. Thanks in advance,
Jim and Deana

Spruce Lake isn't bad - haven't been there for a couple years but it's woodsy and on the Lake. I like the KOA personally. When are you planning to be there? 'Cause it's already getting down into the low 30's at night there . . .

GraciesMom-- thanks for the quick response. How is this for waiting for the minute... we are heading there tomorrow from Colorado Springs. I will check out those sites on the web. Know anything about Paradise RV park?
Thanks,
Jim

I can tell you that Mary's Lake CG should not be on your list. (NASTY)

Lukeaa- thanks for the reference source. It is really great to have a source that folks have taken the time to report the positives and the negatives on campsites.

Jim,
We are out in the RV about 6-8 months a year. I only use RV Park Reviews, because we have a big rig and I don't like surprises. It is always right on the money. I have thrown my Woodall's away. Be sure that you go in and rate the campgrounds that you use. We all benefit.

I hope the weather gets better for you! I'm sitting here watching the rain fall ( as you know ) and the live cams along 70 are showing snow at 10k feet already . . . where are you headed from here? I wanted to get up to Estes Park and RMNP before I left Denver - not sure if I'm going to make it. I haven't been there in YEARS. Have fun!

Graciesmom: Your comment about snow/cold got us to do a re-think about our travel route. We are now staying the night at Wheatland and will stay three-four days in the Mt. Rushmore area which was one of our major goals. We will then head back south and weather permitting, stay at Spruce Lake ( which is full this weekend).
Luke n Kathy-- the best part of RV park reviews is a mix of positives and negatives...not just dumping on your last poor camping experience so i will "play it forward" and do reviews.

If you can survive w/o electricity I'd highly recommend Moraine Park CG in RMNP. It overlooks Moraine Park which is a main elk viewing area this time of year.

Will there be any problems with access or finding a space for a 41' Dip...? I'm headed that way in a few days and would love to hear some bugling elk...!

We tried them all and finally wound up at Jellystone. It's a little pricey but if your staying a week not to bad. Parks nice well managed level spots and on site LP. Give it a try.

Tim and Crystal,
We stayed at Elk Meadows in Estes not far from the Entrance station to the NP. Elk Meadows is reviewed in the Campground section.
Patty and I liked Elk Meadows. We were up in the back of the park (highest point of the park) and had great views.
We would stay there again.
