Fortunately, my W/D floor is still intact, but the really cheap angle brackets (that were holding the W/D in place) were of poor design....and I replaced them with with a sturdier bracket setup.

Mine caved in also, but I was able to jack it back up, without removing the W/D, with a screw jack and build a frame under it that I glued to the wall with braces to the floor. Then I put "I" bolts thru the floor and ran a nylon strap across the whole unit so it would not move on the shelf as the brackets were not worth anything.

Ours (Splendide) was installed after market. Before they brought it in I inspected the area for potential problems and had them install a thicker (1/2 in) piece of plywood under it. After it was in I made them reroute and shorten the dryer vent exhaust to avoid lint buildup. The Splendide has no lint filter. The hose now is situated so I can open the vent from the outside and see right into the W/D. This was borne of experience of a friend whose W/D wasn't venting any more. We found the vent tube was completely clogged and it was almost 5 ft long!! We're half timers and use the W/D daily.

SPA48,
I have to admit, I never even gave a thought to the possibility of the W/D platform caving in.... I couldn't even imagine the look on your face when you opened the cabinet to see what the noise you heard was.....What next? Right?

For those that don't have the washer/dryer.....we removed the floor, cut it in half about six inches from the rear wall and added a hinge. I now have some good hidden storage underneath. On the smaller coaches like mine, it all adds up.

update on floor
Just wanted to let You know that under the false floor is 3/4" x 3/4" wood that is stapled poorly to the walls--no glue---no screws--cheap workmanship at best!!!!!! have built up the support, enough to hold an elephant!!!!!

That's why I always wrap my gun up in a baggie and hide it under the grill of the BBQ.
