Fan Motor problems
I have a 2013 Monaco Knight. The fan only runs on hi. This happened before and I changed the resistor Ann’s that corrected the problem. I changed the resistor this time and it only runs on hi.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Bob & Susan; I am going to guess you are referring to the dash A/C Heater blower motor. I have also replaced the resistor pack on my previous 2000 Windsor and my present 2001 Windsor. On my 2000 Windsor I replaced the resistor pack and had the same experience you just posted about. Pulled the new resistor pack out and discovered that the resistor coils were pushed together and not separated from one another. I think it came out of the box that way or I might have bumped the pack installing in the air plenum. I would pull the resistor pack out and see if all coils are separated. It is very easy to get them separated. It is also very easy to get them to touch each other. Let us know what happens and good luck!

If the resister on the dash air is burnt it will only work on high. You can get one at NAPA for about $20.00.

Please tell me the location of the resistor pack on the 2013 Knight. I have a 2012 with the same problem. Not sure if I should look in the generator compartment or behind the air conditioner fan control.
Thanks

It will be on the front firewall in the generator bay on passenger side. It will be a black plastic box with A/C lines going to it. It is a under an electrical connection with either 3 or 4 wires going to it. Pull that connector and should have 2 Phillips head screws holding it in place. I think I have attached a typical picture of one..

That resistor is the same in my 2013 Knight. Replaced it again still doesn’t, work. Is there more than one resistor?

I removed the resistor and sure none of the coils were touching, still have the same problem. I’ll check with Napa if it’s no more than $20, I will purchase another resistor.

The resistor is to the right of the fan motor

I was able to pull the old resistor pack and wondering if there is a way to test it? Same symptoms as others with fan only running on high speed. Checked to make sure all coils were separated and no obvious problems.
The cheapest one I found on line was about $35.

I could not find the resistor locally so ordered on line and have not gotten it yet.
Will report when installed if solves the problem but was just wondering if there was a way to test the one removed with a volt meter to confirm it was bad.[

When you select "Hi" the resistors are bypassed, some designs will have the "Hi" switch position energize a relay to power the motor directly, but any other powered position will go thru the resistors. It would be rare that the resistors themselves would 'burn up', heavy wire is used, but as shown here, some utilize a 'thermal fuze' to open circuit the resistor parts of the circuit, usually too much current draw (heat) causes the fuze to open, then the fan motor will only operate on "Hi".
This is a typical diagram, follow it when diagnosing yer problem, remember, not all have the 'fuze' and not all use a relay for "Hi", but is wired directly to the motor.
