Good advice.
Second is to always use RainX or similar on your windows. The number of times that stuff has saved me is beyond measure. It also saves on wiper blades as you don't have to use the wipers as often.
Third, at a spot with a hose, hose the windshield down good before you pump, and let the water soak a bit on those suicidal bugs. They come off easier that way.
