FINALLY - New Carpet & Vinyl Planking
Well, after 13 years of full-time use the old carpet has FINALLY been ripped out and replaced with new carpet in some areas and in others where there was carpet I had vinyl planking installed.
I first shopped around for carpet and vinyl planking. I found exactly what I was looking for at Lowe's. I purchased an expensive Shaw brand carpet called Private Oasis III. It was $4.28 per square foot and I ordered a 12 x 22 foot section. I wanted a high quality carpet that would last another 10-15 years or more.
I was very fortunate to find a vinyl planking that came very close to matching the color of the Pergo flooring.
I found an installation technician on Craigslist that had over 25 years experience plus he had done a number of motorcoach installations which was a PLUS.
The removal and installation took about a day and half. There were places that had carpet from the factory that I no longer wanted carpet in those areas. They were the closet floor, around the bottom of the bed pedestal, in the toilet room, the entry step well and step cover. The areas where new carpet was installed was the large roadside slide where the old Jack-knife sofa bed used to be located and my free-standing dinette plus the entire bedroom.
The balance of the coach floor has Pergo flooring that was installed at the factory by the original owners.
I purchased an excess amount of carpet because for two reasons. One was I did not want ANY seams in either the piece that went into the large slide up front or the piece that went into the floor of the bedroom. With the excess I had various sections made up with bounding around the edges to use in various places inside the coach.
One section is used to cover the step in front of the closet as that's where my dog sleeps PLUS it covers up the mechanisms to release the engine cover. I learned early on that those had to be covered up otherwise they were a definite hazard when walking at night. Another section is for the foot of the bed where my dog likes to rub and scratch. Another section is for the entry step cover when it has been deployed. And the final one is a special pattern for between the two captains chairs that are not shown in the photo because they are out getting re-upholstered.
I have a 3 x 5 foot section left over for any situation where a repair could be needed sometime in the future.
I absolutely love the new carpet and vinyl planking. PLUS the new Lazy Boy recliner is icing on the cake.
I have included before and after photos that take up a number of posts. The first ones are BEFORE followed by the AFTER photos.

Very nice Richard. Guess it feels like a new coach now. Love the chair and noticed the control sitting on the arm rest in the ready position.
