Finally something that fixed itself

When we bought our new to us coach ~7 years ago one of the only things that didn't work was the spark lighter on the 3 burner stove. I had removed it, it is a sealed unit so not much to check. I checked all the connections, got 12 volt coming to the unit. I even added an additional ground a couple years ago but could never get the auto light to work.

On this last trip I was getting ready to cook something, got the lighter out of the draw and was getting ready to light the stove when all of a sudden the auto spark started to click and the stove lite. Used it 10-12 times over the next 3 weeks.

Don't know what I did or what bump I hit but I finally had something that fixed itself.

Don't know how long it will last but it's good while it's working. Life is good.

I bought a new igniter for one of my burners that would not spark. I'll dig out the order if anyone is interested in getting one.

Enjoy it. It's a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.

Yup, small victory.

This last 3600 mile trip was pretty painless, the only other thing I had to do was change the drivers side windshield wiper. First time in a while since a trip hasn't resulted in some sort of repair facing me upon return.

I believed the coach sensed my frustration and heard me verbally curse saying that if we had major problems on this last trip I was going to have to get rid of the coach. This is the only logical explanation since no amount of checking and prechecks prevented problems in the past

I pretty much do all the work on my coach still can barely afford to own it, although the lower price of diesel has been a breath of fresh air.

Self Repairs

I'm in the same group, if I couldn't work on my coach, I would have to set at home. Like the price of fuel right now.

Had a similar trip this weekend. Got to campground Thursday evening and the main awning would not extend. Was getting power to retract, but not to extend. Checked power and had 13.6 volts coming to controller. Ran out of time and thought I would work on it on Friday. Friday morning, voila! It was working and did so all weekend. Then the Directv Genie would not power up. Pushed reset and it came on and worked fine. Must be some gremlins floating around the rv. (It is almost Halloween!)

My Heliotrope RV-30 charger was indicating 40V+ for charging after I washed the roof. You know the one made by a company that is out of business…….

I was putting off replacing it while deciding which model and what form factor when it started working again. Small victories, but I'll take them. Of course in the mean time the right patio awning spring shot craps.
