First Question and it's about the potty.
First real post about my new to me 2004 Monaco Windsor PKDD and its a potty question. It's just been that kind of year.
My issue is that the toilet doesn't hold water and my assumption is that the blade seal around the ball needs replacing.
Unfortunately my MH didn't come with a manual for this so I've been digging around and I think it's a Thetford Aqua-Magic. Looking at the pictures in the online manual it's either the Aqua-Magic V or Aqua-Magic STYLE.
Can anyone confirm for me one way or the other what model of toilet came in the 2004 Windsor?
Thanks,
-Richard

Good afternoon Richard; When I read your question I checked my vehicle data sheet I got from Monaco. I would suggest you call them with your Vin# and they should be able to Email you the Build sheet and the Vehicle data sheet. The data sheet has all the items installed on your coach from the factory. Oddly enough it does not contain any info on the potty! In my 01 Windsor I have the Thetford Aria II Deluxe. I am sure this came from the factory and have see it in later year coach's. Just not sure about your 04. Before you go trying to replace the seal get a bottle of Thetford seal and lube conditioner. This you can get from Camping World and other RV supply stores. Thetford has instructions that while in storage use this product to keep the seal soft and lubricated. My potty hold water just fine. You can also get some plumbers silicone lube at the big box stores. Comes in a little round container, looks like a Carmex lip conditioner. You can use this also to lube the seal. With the gate open use a soft cloth to clean under the seal and then apply with your finger a coat of the silicone lube. Works great on my electric Aria II. Hope this info helps.

Hi Richard; Just looked at 2, 2004 Windsor's on line at RV Trader. In both coaches the potty looks like the Thetford Aria Deluxe II that is in my 01 Windsor. This may not mean anything as a previous owner may have changed out the potty that came in the coach from the factory!

Just slip your cell phone behind the toilet and take a pic of it. That's where the label was on my Thetford II.

I've got two of those toilets and never had a seal problem.
The reason is I ALWAYS keep water in the bowl even when stored so the seals don't dry out.
Also after every trip I use a mixture of Dawn dish soap and water to wash the bowl and I make sure the Dawn gets the seals covered.
I suggest you empty the bowl and the pour about a cup of pure Dawn in the toilet bowl. Open and close the trap a couple times making sure the Dawn gets all over the rubber seal.
Then let it soak for a day and see if that cures the problem.

Every once in a while our toilet will suddenly start to leak water out of the bowl. I usually place several sheets of toilet paper in the bottom and pour some CLR in and let it soak for a while. CLR will dissolve calcium deposits. Then I take Sharon's tooth brush and gently scrub the bottom of the rubber seal. Then use some Plumber Grease and that usually does the trick. As has been said keeping water in the bowl so it won't dry out is the trick.
Oh... remember to replace the toothbrush with a new one

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I’ll see if I can find the data plate and try some of the suggested methods for cleaning the seal before I replace it.

Hi Richard! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!
I was having the same problem with our toilet. I cleaned the seal with "0000" steel wool. Problem solved!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Hey Joe, I'm impressed, how did you get Annette to reach down in the potty with the steel wool? I could never get Sharon to do that

2004 Monaco Windsor Toilet Model
I tried soaking the blade seal in Dawn soap, then scrubbing it with a brillo pad. But it still leaks. However, it turns out due to a different project I ended up having to remove the toilet anyhow.
For my 2004 Monaco Windsor 40 PKDD I have this toilet:
Thetford Model 34431 Aqua-Magic STYLE PLUS CP HIGH W/S
Since the toilet is out I'm going to go ahead and replace the seal and the water valve. Should be like new then.

Once the new seal is in keep water in the bowl ALL the time, especially when in storage, you'll never have another seal problem.

Thanks for the tip. I always did this with my prior TT but unfortunately this new to me MH sat empty for some time before I bought it. There are a number of small maintenance issues that I’m working on. This was factored in to the price and so I’m just working through these issues.
BTW, Seems everyone is out of stock on Thetford parts. Anyone have an extra blade seal the want to sell me?
