Flashing Headlights to High

I have a 2008 Holiday Rambler Ambassador without a smart wheel. The way to go to headlight high beam is on the steering column however like on most vehicles I know you can flash to high by just tugging on the turn signal stick but mine does not flash. I have to go all the way to where it clicks and do that a few times to let trucks know they can get back in the right lane after passing me. Is there something wrong or is that just how Roadmaster made it.

Bob,
Not sure about how you flash to high but most truckers don't appreciate the flash especially at night as it can be flash blinding at night if they are looking in their mirror. They would prefer you to switch the lights (already on low beam) off and then back on and I think most would tell you that they already know when they are clear and don't really need either a flash or a off/on switch. However, I still try to help them out if hard for them to see me due to rain by switching them off and then back on. I realize it can be a problem with daytime running lights on a lot of coaches but something to think about.

Even though I have a smart wheel. When I flash my lights at night, it simply shuts them off momentarily. If my headlights are off during the day and I flash they will come on momentarily. I would think this is done to make it easy on the eyes. Flashing with high beams is not a good idea. When you are passing you are looking to the side mirrors to determine when it's safe to come back into lane. You flash high beams it blinds me, it doesn't help me.

I'm not familiar with the turn signal lever 'flashing' the headlights. A smart wheel doesn't flash to high beams, it turn the headlights off if they are on or it turns them on if they are off. I only use it when the vehicle passing me is trying to get over due to him/her holding up traffic in the other lane. About 50% of the time, you will get a 'thank you' response from the other guy.

Clarification, I'm not familiar with the turn signal flashing the headlights on the motor home. It does do it that way on my other vehicles, however.

I don't drive at night (at least not on purpose) so I do not flash my lights at anyone at night. Its common courtesy to let the truckers know when its safe to pull back in.
