Flex Steel replacement covers

Has anyone replaced theirs? How hard is the job? And anyone having a good source is appreciate.

If the seat covers are worn enough to need replacement, very likely the foam might also need replacing. It would something I'd leave to an upholstery shop. You might inquire around to see if you can find a shop that will install covers you provide, or if they'd rather order and install them.

I have replaced my captain chairs “skins” with factory originals from Flexsteel. It’s not a hard job just requires a few tools like hog ring pliers and some fabric adhesive. I’m now getting ready to recover a sleeper sofa also from flexsteel. I can share pictures if interested.

I found a place that is seeing if they can get mine. I will have a look at them and see if it is something I can handle, if not there I'll wait until fall when I bring it back to Florida. There are a few shops there that do it. Thanks

I bought my replacement seat covers from Flexsteel and getting my ready to the same thing. How did you remove the arm rests from the captain chairs.

I found the original information slip on the bottom of the passenger seat which I used when I contacted Flexsteel customer service. I have been working with Lisa Bauer LBauer@flexsteel.com who has been great. She quoted the new skins for the captains chairs as well as a convertible sofa which I'm getting ready to do now.

I decided to add a manual footrest to the passengers seat while I had it out which worked well. I did the project over a weekend during last winter. I took a lot of pictures during the original skins removal which helped during the install.

The seat skins fit perfectly since they were made to the original patterns. I selected the best material available which was there UltraLeather. The prices were much cheaper then new seats, $375 driver, $395 passenger, $135 footrest. Not cheap but I was very pleased with the outcome.

The only tools needed were hog ring pliers and a can of fabric adhesive to secure the seat center to the foam. I did use a folding work bench to rest the seat on, a flat screwdriver to remove the fabric clamps and pair of regular pliers.

If your handy with mechanical things you should be able to handle this project. I had never done this before and it was easy enough to reinstall with pictures. The hardest thing to do was cut the holes for the switches and levers.

WOW, you did an outstanding job, looks like a professional did that.

To remove the armrest push them into the side of the seat and turn them up and toward the back. They rotate on a center post with a dowel which has to align with the key slot in the seat frame for the arm to come out. The spring keeps them pushed away from the seat back so they stay in place.
