Hello again,
This is my follow up to a problem I had with my refrigerator.
The original problem was the fridge was flashing a code (AC rE) on the control panel. The service manual says this is a non owner servicable code.
This happened when we used the invertor for the first time traveling down the road. At the time it made me wonder if this isn't what caused the code on the fridge because I forgot to put it on LP before turning on the invertor.
Has anyone had any experience similar to this and what did you do. Any thoughts on what I might do to fix this myself other then taking it to a dealer would be appreciated.
The refrigerator is a Norcold 1200LRim model.
It works fine when plugged up to shore power and while using the generator and also on LP mode. Just get a code when I use the invertor.
Thanks for the help.

Sorry, but I must be missing something. As far as I know the frig will not work using just the inverter. At least that is how all the ones I've seen work. You have Shore, Gen or LP. Usually they don't run "just" on the invertor due to the drain on the battery. Though you do need 12 VDC anytime it's running.

Don't have a clue about that code, but in my '98, the fridge will switch over to "Auto AC" when the inverter is operating.

When you figure this one out, post the solution. I'm sure that with my luck, I'll encounter the code eventually.

I also thought you only had 3 options. Shore, Gen, and LP. We never take ours off the auto setting except when we turn it off. It automatically switches back and forth to whatever is available.

Letsgoagain, Check the 120 volt receptacle the ref. is plugged into for power when the inverter is on and no other power source is used. If you DO have power I would think the error code could be a result of the modified sine wave of the inverter. Let us know what you find out. I will try to find out what this code is in the service manual later today.

Letsgoagain,

I don't have the service manual for a 1200. However, Norcold has used that code to indicate "AC relay locked" and list that condition as requireing the control board to be replaced.

Hope this is of some help and not leading you in the wrong direction.

Green lights and soft breezes,

I think you should remove 12v supply from inverter and supply 12v from your converter, house batts fuse panel or engine battery. That way there will not be any interuption of 12v to your control board or the front panel of refer, if there is interuption you will be getting codes.
The refer operates on AUTO for LPG and AC but needs 12v uninterupted on the control boards to do this..
