Fresh water gravity fill hose, 1 3/8" ID

My fresh water gravity fill hose is shredded (2004 Signature). The hose is routed from the fill port through the front of the rear wheel well into the fresh water compartment.
I removed the pieces last night. The hose I took off says 1 3/8" ID Non-Pressure hose. It looks like blue and white swimming pool hose about 3' long.

Is this the corrrect hose for this?

Would 1 3/8" ID braided PVC be more durable?

Does anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks

Probably would be more durable. Be sure the new is safe for drinking water. Why did the old one shred?

Ozone kills it over time and it's in the wheel house and subject to everything the tires throw at it over the years.

Hose https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...5672+&_sacat=0

Sealer https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Permatex 80050 Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant, 3 oz

Use the sealer on the nipple on the tank. I was sure I would not need it …..wrong!..I had to do it twice.

Mine was a bit time consuming to get to and the way these goat herders assemble these things make it difficult sometimes.

For instance …I had remove the docking light to get to the upper hose clamp and they managed to get black silicone on the threads of the docking light from end to end took ( a mile long) and took about an hour to deal with just that alone.

Happy Hunting

You can use the clear braided hose for water, it's made for that and available at Lowes and Home Depot.

If his hose runs like mine does " KINK FREE " is the key.

I don't think you'll every have to worry about the braided hose kinking, that stuff is stiff, especially in the larger sizes! I usually use a hair dryer to warm up the hose, makes it a lot easier to work with. Or lay it out in the Texas sun for a while!

On my coach, the gravity hose comes off the nipple 1 inch and makes a very tight 90 bend then goes 3 inches and makes another 90 bend.

That hose that I listed is listed is pretty darn tough and will bend at 90 and not kink and double lined and is very-very flexible and pretty dern tough.
What I do know for sure is that it will work and it lasted 13 years living inside a the wheel well.

Yes, the clear braided hose may work ..... I didn't try it to know and perhaps another option.

I went all over the place looking for clear PVC braided or clear hose. I could only find 1 1/4" ID or 1 1/2" ID, not 1 3/8".

I purchased some heavy duty white Spa 1 3/8" ID hose yesterday, but you are right. It would not make the two tight 90 degree turns coming up from the tank. On mine, the hole through the wheelwell is about 2" above the hose attachment point on the water tank and it's just too tight of a turn for any type of stiff hose. I thought about cutting a new hole through the wheel well and re-routing the hose.

To access the clamp on the fill door, I just removed the entire fill door with 4 screws.

RobRoy, thanks for the link to the flexible hose. I ordered 4' of the hose from the link you posted. I'll make sure I use some sealant on the tank attachment point.

I didn't want to take the door off and jack with the paint as my stripes are painted right over the door ..but yes much faster to remove the door if doable.

Those bends are really really tight on my coach ....and as you found out 1.3/8 dia. flexiable hose is difficult to find ...at least locally here also.

Happy Trails

I replaced my 2002 Monaco Exec. gravity fill hose last year, went to local RV sales parts department and they had the exact factory replacement in stock,
(surprised me) comes on a 50' roll, they simply cut off the dimension of old one.

For those of you that think "I really don't use the gravity water fill hose so I'm not worried about it". Think again. When this hose breaks, the fresh water tank will only hold less than 1/2 tank. The rest runs out all over the place.
