Front Axle question and help
My 2013 Monaco Knight 40 DFT ( I'm second owner) just had repack of front bearings at 30,000 miles when I called in to get it schedule I said it was a 13,000lb front according to the data plate inside the coach. After they finished the repack I was told it was a Spicer 1202W 1202TB 12,000lb axle. is there some mistake? I have confirmed the tag on the axle and the stamping in the axle say E-1202W. How is the axle only 12,000 according to spicer but 13,000 according to that data plate. Have I been way over loaded and now what? I've tried and tried but REV group insists its a 13,000 axle but I can't get anyone to send me that in writing they say refer to the data plate on the coach. Can anyone with a similar coach confirm or deny they have a similar axle stamp to mine? thanks for the help just trying to keep it safe.

Maybe it was replaced with the wrong axle from the previous owner?

Possible however no record of any work being done according to VIN and has an original Monaco stamp on axle.

I believe Spicer extended the capacity of some front axles for Monaco Coach for motor home applications. I would contact Spicer with your question.

I have a 40 ft 07 Knight and have the same axle but i seen some where in the coach, cant remember where, that the front is rated for 13000 lbs. I weighed the coach fully loaded and full fuel tank and 3 people on board and it came to 11450 so still ok. the tag on the axle says 12000

I took another look and it's an I. (E1200-I)My data plate behind the driver's seat says it's 13000 lbs for the front and 23000 for the rear. Says it's an Eaton. Last time I weighed it, the front was 11500.

So I had looked up the Eaton Spicer chart myself and confirmed its a 1202 axle and there's where my question really came from, every brochure, every Monaco knight spec sheet says 13,000lb axle capacity for the 2013 40 DFT and I'm 12,950 with 3 roof AC and a 10K Gen 2 people and 2 dogs and water only 3/4 full, I've run this way for awhile until i was told about the axle then I got nervous and started digging into it more. still awaiting Spicer reply but can't get anywhere with REV they claim they have nothing to do with anything below only the coach body. It appears mine isn't the only 1202 so I'm hoping Spicer can shed some light thanks for the replies its helped alot.

Is it on a Freightliner chassis? I would think a 12,000 lb axle would be sufficient but you could contact Freightliner and see what they say about the chassis specifications. The axles would have been purchased by Freightliner and the chassis would be a compete system capable of being driven without the house installed. REV puts the house on and should stay within Freightliner's maximum load specs but they don't always do. Our coach is an 06 Diplomat built in 05 and has a 20,000 pound rear axle. It has been 200 lbs over the limit of 20,000 since the day we purchased it in 2007. Now has 107,000 miles on it and we have never had any problems. There have been speculation that these axles are 23,000 but because of some Federal regulation about a maximum of 20,000 lbs per axle they get labeled as 20K and not 23K.
