front door won't stay open

My front door will no longer stay open. I think the top bracket is loose. Any help on fixing it-do I just hammer on the rivit that holds the twopieces of the bracket together. Thanks in advance.

That's what I have done the last few years, just remove the bracket and buck it up with a piece of steel and use a ball pean to expand the rivets. You can also push the bracket out so it's straight and that will hold the door open. Beats paying Monaco's hiway bandit price for a new bracket.

Tighten rivit per above, then note the short arm (at rivit joint) that has a small dimple which when fully open seats its self in another dimple in one of the longer arms. Slightly (2-3 degrees) bend the shorter arm toward the longer arm..... In 3-1/2 years of ownership this has been done once and still works great.
