Front entry seat location

With the front entry one annoying thing is the copilot seat is further back than the pilot. Has anyone done a modification to get that seat further forward but be able to move back when needed?

My seat is bolted to a fixed/welded mount. No way to move it back without extending the mount or install some sort of sliding/latching device. If you do this the base may have to be shortened to account for the extra height.

But whatever you do you have to make sure it would withstand the forces involved if you were in an accident.

Yes I have been searching the web and any back must be “with integrated seat belt” most I have found are high 5-8 in an that may make the seat to high.

I took the base off and drilled new holes on the pilot seat base to re position it. I have air ride seats which put me too high so I also ground out the welds, milled the base shorter and welded it back together.

Some of you guys can do a lot more than me I am not a welder in fact never have.

In would also like to reposition the brake and accelerator but I am not that handy at all. My leg is always off to the right to press the accelerator pedal. I would move the seat but then would not be centered on the steering wheel as for now try to use Cruise and much as I can.

Yes.. we got a mid-door DP and totally solved all the front entry issues: wind noise, door rattle, disrupting DW "nest" when fueling, provides direct entry to kitchen, windows that don't open, seat too far back.....best solution ever--IMHO!

Where the seat sit's now, the footrest comes to within about 8" of the dash when extended.

You think my wife would give up her footrest just to be sitting at the same level as me !!!!

Wife dose not use the footrest when driving. Feels it is unsafe.

It is not that bad if I can get her to put the seat full forward when driving she just forgets.

I also have now found the pin that keeps the seat from going full forward so that may help.
