FYI removing taillight on 2006 Diplomat

Yesterday I decided to check all the lights on the motorhome and found some taillight bulbs needed to be replaced. My old noggin does not work so good these days, especially the memory part. I vaguely remember taking out a taillight years ago but the procedure escaped me. I looked behind the taillight for screws but did not locate any. My gut was telling me I needed to pry the taillight out but was apprehensive. I searched my extensive motorhome documentation for any notes on the process but did not find any. A member here, RMCB, is a friend and he owns a 2007 Diplomat. I remembered Roy was atoning for past sins by camping for a week at Lake Tahoe and thought he might like a break from all the drudgery. I gave him a call and he indicated his taillight assemblies had screws at the back that needed to be removed. Harry, HappyCars, says Monacos are like snowflakes and no two are alike. To get serious and quit my babbling, I did pry out the taillight assembly and decided to document it for the next time I could not remember how to remove the taillight. I am passing it along in case someone else needs to do the same.

See the attached photos for clarification. First apply some painters tape along the inside edge of the taillight assembly opening in the rear cap or just use a piece of cereal box paper to protect the paint. Insert a screwdriver between the taillight assembly and the inside edge and pry the assembly out by applying force to the screwdriver towards the center of the coach. Once that side of the assembly pops out push down on the red locking tab on the plug and remove the plug. The taillight assembly can now be moved to a work area to remove the four screws that attach the lamp assembly to the lens. Once the lamp assembly is out you can plug it back into the coach and test the bulbs using the emergency flasher and running lights. To test the back up lamp swap it with one of the other bulbs while both the emergency flasher and running lights are on. Not sure which filament is used for the backup lights so that tests them both. All three bulbs on our coach were 3057's. When you are done push the two rear pins into the sockets at the back of the opening and snap the other two back into the rubber sockets.

Thanks. I have an 07 Diplomat and mine had screws on the inside of the bulb and snaps on the outside side of the lens. It is hard to get to the bulb since the overflow tank and air filter hose blocks it. Funny how the 06 was built better to provide easier access to replace the bulbs. Go figure.
