Sounds like your solenoid, hose or ram is leaking, I would look for hydraulic fluid around lines, solenoid etc.

Does the slide open to the side, or does the slide open towards the front? I admit I'm not familiar with a generator slide that is manually operated.

Sounds like the lock is broken on the hasp. Mine has two tabs on side you must squeeze to release the hasp

Edit: maybe a zip tie thru latch would solve this as well

Slide

My 04 Safari had the same problem. There are two bolts, one on each side of the rail that act as locking pins when the gen set is stored. They are trapped by the locks on either side of the gen set. Due to the rough Sections of I95 near NY somehow these locking pins (bolts) sheared and the only thing that held the generator in was a small safety pin.

Very poor design, I now check these bolts often.

Had the same problem on mine. I cleaned and lubed the cable and lock mechanism and haven't had a problem since. Use a dry slide lube to keep dirt from collecting.

My genny slide has a safety pin in addition to the latch. The pin simply goes into a hole drilled through the frame rail, and prevents the slide from moving. If yours does not have something like that, it should not be difficult to add.

My unit has a habit of the turnbuckles tightening from vibration, which does not allow the slide to return to a fully locked position once opened. I took care of it by adjusting the turnbuckles and then duct taping them .

With a 2017, you should still be under warranty. Take it back to the dealer.
