I found a manual for a 7.5 DKD and in trouble shooting it says there is an F1 fuse on page 2-5, it may be in the panel itself. Here's a link http://truckroadservice.com/barth_at...ice_Manual.pdf

I believe the wiring schematic shows a 2 amp fuse. Page 3-4

First thought is you indvertly interrupted normally closed stop circuit.
Second if you possibly used a substitute higher resistance solenoid . Some old school 12v DC Amp Meters and solenoid relay pass relatively high current in series inline to another circuit. We have one of these circuits for a DC magnet filter at work . The ammeter and relay are in series to separate DC circuit . The relay is wound with like 14 GA wire. Old cars had ammeters like that as well.
They did some things things with DC that seem odd now with more electronic type circuits.

Read starting sequence 3-10 . Is this solenoid correct OEM as I described earlier about low resistance coil. I'm reading sequence but on nights 8 hrs sleep in 48 in I'm foggy.
On my phone wish I had paper copies in front of me to write on instead of trying to remember letters an #s

Start disconnect sequence is coming to mind as holding you out.
Stop sequence is next

Next I found no crank flow chart.
What was issue with old solenoid ....it wouldn't stop??
If you put back in will it start or crank?
EDIT I guess if it's open you would have same thing start no stop though.

Mine came unplugged from the little connector at the genset one time after I slid it out. The connector is on the curb side near the front and top of the genset. There are three or four wires in one of those little white square push-together connectors.

the old solenoid wouldn't push the lever forward to the start position. the gen would crank but not start on the old solenoid.

How does it start with the new one disconnected then. Are you hold it open some way
Test old one see if coil is open or nearly in meg ohms.
Did you find drawing and flow chart. I would print it out and Mark all the items instead of K11 ect.. It describes all the functions better than most systems.

Yes i unplugged the + from the fuel solenoid and it started right up but the button wouldn't turn it off. I would say because the + wasn't hooked up. Is this solenoid bad?

So it only cranks if both fuel solenoids are disconnected from circuit.???
To be honest give me a drawing a meter , a jumper ,test things with power and with the stuff in front of me I'm great. But just that draw with not marked on my phone I'm having trouble being better help. I don't see K1 fuel solenoid even on drawing at all.
Check ohms on both coils are they similar if so we are on wrong part and it may run some type of pre-check through the solenoid to make sure it's in the circuit and latch a relay. Does it actuate before not cranking. You could just hook solenoid up to 12v see if both pull in if so they are good.

it starts with the + disconnected from solenoid and the pump is not disconnected. but it doesn't shut down with the + unplugged from the solenoid. This tells me the solenoid is bad, i think. is that true?
