Generator switch light not working

The light on our generator switch does not come on even though the generator works fine. Is there a fuse to fix this or would we need a new switch? And if a new switch, is that something we could replace easily?

Hi Rrhanson; I an not aware of a fuse for that light in the switch. First you might want to check the connections on the back side of the switch to make sure they clean and tight. That tiny bulb in the switch can last for a very long time and sometimes not. To me they look like a type of Carling style of switch, but not 100% sure on that. I would go on the web and see what a new switch would cost. From ONAN, maybe have to get a second job!!! Once you get a part number I would do more searching and see what pops up. These are just my thoughts on the light on the switch. Let us know what you find out as inquiring minds always want to know! Might check NWRV supply in Eugene Oregon. They have lots of Carling switches!

Not sure if it's relevant, but, if I don't turn on the headlights the gen running light does not come on. Once in a blue moon the light will come on without the headlights being on. Anyway, that's what I have noticed with mine.

"RH", what year, make and model is your coach? You might add that to your signature on your posts, as these coaches can be so different it's hard to believe they were manufactured in the same universe.

That said, I did replace the lamp in one of my Carling switches several years ago. It was pretty tedious and the trick today would be finding a bulb. When I did it, we sill had Radio Shack stores around.

Our coach is an '06 Dynasty.

Thank you!

Thank you everyone! Put the motorhome back in storage yesterday. The generator light actually worked. Will keep your suggestions in mind, should it go back to not lighting up. Also, have edited my signature as suggested (thank you!).
