Generator will not start from switches inside the coach

I have a 2007 diplomat PDQ. It has been in storage for 4 years. The generator will start and run from the outside panel at the generator but not the switches inside the coach. Although I do get the flashing light indicating pre-heat, that is all I get. Also, the red light at the control panel does not come on when the generator is running. But the display panel does indicate 50 amps to the coach. If anyone has a suggestion where I should start looking please help.

Thanks in advance, Don Croner

First thing I'd check is the wiring harness on the passenger side of the generator. I it is a 4 (?) wire harness. These wires are the ones that communicate with the coach. I'd pull the harness apart, blow it out and then use some dielectric grease on it.

If that's not the problem you may have a wire pulled loose and or mouse damage.

A while back someone had the same problem and used a small probe to test the connection on each wire across the harness and found one had pulled loose from the pin. Fixed it and all was good.

This is a common problem.

Along the side of the generator there is a connector that is notorious for needing some exercise by disconnecting, spraying and reconnecting a few times.

It could be tired switches from lack of use as well but the harness connector is often the culprit.
