Girard awning switch location

On our new to us 2005 Dynasty 40' it has the Girard G-2000 awning, it has a working remote control, but I can't locate a wired extend and retract switch anywhere in the coach, my question does this have one, or just the remote?, if so any ideas where it may be?, there is a switch over the entry door for the door awning, but not the main awning, any help would be welcome, thanks Ron

On my mine there are two control boxes and an unmarked rocker switch on a third box in the cabinet over the pass side sofa. Yep that is the manual in/out switch. Your config may be different but it will be somewhere close to the motor (coach ffront) end of the awning. Suggest you label the switch...I had to get a flashlight and move some DW stuff to check for you.

Have always used the remote, thanks for the reminder...and glad I labeled it five years ago.

In our 03 Dynasty 40' Baroness there is a small rocker switch in the underside of the cabinet on the curbside just behind the passenger seat. There is a dimmer style knob that controls the halogen lights under the cabinet (over the J-lounge) and right next to it is the rocker switch for the Girard awning.

Push the rocker switch out towards the exterior and the awning extends, push the switch towards the inside of the coach and the awning retracts.

I just pulled all the stuff from the cabinet, there are 4 boxes up there, two on the outside wall deep with tapered sides maybe 8"x8" each, on the end wall are two more one is about 5x7 says Intro Wind Remote on it, has 4 screws and a solid face plate, next to that a box that is about 3x5 it has wire knockouts on all the sides with nothing coming out of them, just the plugs, it says Current Limiting Device, I have a feeling a switch connects to this last box, and it just never had one

I could be wrong, but I find it hard to believe that they never installed one. I would still assume it is hiding in plain sight.

Funny story on ours though. First week I had the coach home, I had it pulled in the driveway, luckily it was not parked alongside the house. My wife and son were in the coach cleaning and getting ready to start loading. I was under the engine making a list of parts that I was needing to do some repairs and general maintenance. I heard this "humming" sound that just started and I was trying to determine where it was coming from. I rolled out from under the coach on the creeper and noticed that the Girard awning was extending.

Again, luckily it was not parked alongside the house so it had plenty of room to extend. I walked into the coach and asked the wife if she had been playing with buttons. As soon as she looked at me with that look, I knew she pushed something that she didn't know what it did. When she asked why, I simply pointed out the window at the awning that had extended.

Ever since then she has been reluctant to push buttons and it is something we continually joke about when parked next to trees. I will jokingly remind her where the awning switch is and remind her not to push it.

Mike.
